In this true cat story, a cat by the name of Tama has been dressed as a "stationmaster" in a bid to improve business. Business did improve, at 10% currently, when people from across the country flock to this particular station just to get a picture of Tama.
Business now is not just selling train tickets but also souvenirs of Tama, which are snapped up like hot cakes.

Man Marries Dog In India
It was reported that this man married a dog in a bid to lift a "curse" which befell him fifteen years ago when he stoned two dogs to death and hung them to a tree. Well, that’s pretty bad. The groom said that he his health had suffered since then and the way to lift this curse, he was led to believe, was to symbolically marry a dog.

Thumbelina the Mini Miniature Horse
I remember reading about this interesting news article some time back but back then, I did not have a blog!
I think that with Thumbelina so small, it has the dwarf gene of a miniature horse, making it a mini horse of the mini horse, if you get what I mean, everyone who sees and gets to know her will easily fall in love with her! She is so cute, don't you think so?

2008 Hero Dog of the Year Award
I mean, it was just a random search and I did not expect it to turn up any results but it did. I thought that it would be a police rescue dog or something but NO, this is a pit bull that had saved her owner from assault one day in mid-2007, when she was attacked from behind when she was entering her home.
I am always moved by stories like these, true animal hero stories that seem like they came from the movies or something. Here is a pit bull, a breed that is so ferocious that I think that some countries banned it.
I keep telling people that animals are like people and they do know when we are in need of help, they do understand our feelings and such but these are only what another animal lover would understand.
To read the full account of Maya and how she saved her owner's life and why she was honoured as the Hero Dog 2008, visit the official website of National Dog Day. You can also read about the Hero Dog of 2007, Moti, and of 2006, Honey.

The Bushes Pets
Meet India
The First family has a cat by the name of India, two Scottish Terriers and one longhorn cow who lives with her family in the Bushes ranch in Texas.
When I first started this blog, I wrote about the stray dog, Thongdeang, who was given shelter by the Thai King and I also wrote about the passing of Buddy, the pet dog of former US President, Bill Clinton.
I guess some animals are born luckier than others. It's great to be the First Pets :-) Check out more photos of Barney here. He's so cute!

On The Run With 100+ Dogs
No matter how they love dogs, this is not the way to go about it. Just look at this picture of the condition of one of the dogs is.
Its mange is so bad that it is completely bald and the skin has turned black. Mange is a seriously difficult skin condition to treat but this is total neglect. Is this called “animal love”? I don’t think so!
It would be interesting to see how the Australian police will deal with this case. They should send a strong signal that they will not tolerate such acts of cruelty to animals!

Noah's Ark Natural Animal Sanctuary (NANAS)
If you love animals, I am sure you know that keeping animals could be a costly affair. I believe that as a blogger, we have a duty towards society and we can, through blogging, create awareness to causes that are close to our hearts.
Noah's Ark Natural Animal Sanctuary is now home to a few hundred dogs and cats, including pedigree breeds, horses and monkeys and other animals. They have a sponsorship programme where animal lovers who could spare the cash but not the time could sponsor an animal or two.
I stumbled upon their Flickr stream while researching this post and I am really taken by the photos of these animals ion NANAS. I think that a good amount of these photos would make great iPhone wallpapers.

Cholla, the Painting Horse
While surfing the web for an inspiring horse story just now, I came across this painting horse by the name of Cholla. If you recall, in March, 2008, I wrote a post, Art For Animals, which is a community project of human artists who paint animal art in aide of animal charities. In Cholla's case, you can find a HORSE painting. Yes, it is so remarkable that Cholla has been featured time and again on some of the major publications and appeared on various websites.
I so would like to post a picture of Cholla in my post. As you can see, I try to include photos of the animals I feature here in my blog, but it is written at the footer of the official Cholla website that any reproduction of material from the website is strictly prohibited. Well, what to do? I'm too law abiding.
Nectar by Cholla, one of my favourite Cholla art pieces
To read more about Cholla and his artwork and watch videos of him in action, visit him at Artist Is a Horse. You can also support him by purchasing his art. You can find links to Cholla's three online art dealers on his website too.
ETA: I would like to thank Renee Chambers, Cholla's owner, for her permission to reproduce these iimages on my blog.
